Basic Training
 

Basic Training is provided in conjunction with job orientation and all general post assignments. It covers the rudimentary information needed by all contract security officers to effectively perform general duties in a professional and informed manner.

BASIC TRAINING COVERS:

  • Patrol, Observation, and Patrol Methods:
    • The purpose of protective patrolling
    • Protective patrol and observation techniques
    • Observation skills and proper reporting protocols

  • Safety, Fire Prevention, Fire response:
    • General safety and fire prevention
    • Proper use of fire extinguishers
    • Various fire suppression systems and applications

  • Ethics and professionalism:
    • Overview of police and professional ethics
    • Personal conduct, appearance, demeanor, disposition

  • Communications and public relations:
    • Effective communication techniques
    • Conditions that hinder effective communication
    • Public image and public relations
    • Limitations and restrictions on release of information

  • Response to disturbance and crime in progress:
    • Disorderly conduct and conditions under which it may occur
    • The correct physical approach to disorderly conduct
    • Various physical crimes in which the security officer may intervene
    • The security officer's role and responsibility for each defined event
    • Arrest procedures
    • Proper levels of force
    • Open handed tactics and physical takedowns.

 

  • Standard qualifications:
    • Experience utiliing strong interpersonal skills
    • The ability to speak and read English
    • The abilitiy to maintain poise and self-control under stress
    • The ability to write clear, concise, and accurate reports
    • Physically healthy
